The Walnut Chess Set, boasting a 20-inch wooden chessboard veneered with inlaid squares, combines Walnut for the darker squares and Maple for the lighter ones, ensuring both elegance and durability. Crafted in Spain, this high-quality board promises many years of use. Accompanying this exquisite board is a fantastic set of weighted Staunton chess pieces in the Zagreb design, also known as the Zagreb 1959 Series, named after the renowned world championship tournament held in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1959. These pieces stand out significantly with their unique design features, including the top portion of the main pieces holding the opposition color, and a knight meticulously carved with strokes across its vertebrae, almost bowing downwards, reminiscent of Russian chess piece designs. Handcrafted by skilled artisans in Amritsar, India, each piece is carved from specified wood blocks to ensure precision and attention to detail. Additionally, a beautifully veneered chess piece storage box, made from walnut wood, is included with the set. This spacious box is padded and coated in black velvet felt, capable of accommodating pieces ranging from 3 to 4 inches, ensuring your chess pieces remain safe and protected when not in use.

Staunton chess pieces are all manufactured by skilled craftsmen in Amritsar, India.
